People who rely on a city bus to get around Saskatoon are once again being forced to adjust their travel plans.
Saskatoon Transit released a list of bus cancellations on Thursday, which impacts both school and regular routes in the city.
The Amalgamated Transit Union continues to direct members to take job action, which has led to delays, cancellations and over-crowding on some buses throughout the system.
Many passengers have been left scrambling because of last minute changes to routes.
However, Director of Saskatoon Transit Jim McDonald said they will start giving passengers a little more notice, more time to prepare and adjust their plans.
“This week has been a bit of a mish-mash in terms of service that’s actually going out on the road, because of these late breaking announcements,” McDonald said. “We’re going to try to give people a bigger, longer heads up next week.”
McDonald said they’re just ‘rolling with the punches’ right now.
“We’re taking a look at all of the options,” McDonald said. “We’re trying to get the best service out there for everybody.”
As a result of job action being taken on Thursday, Saskatoon Transit has been forced to make the following service adjustments to afternoon service on Nov. 17:
School Routes:
Route 23 servicing Tommy Douglas leaving at 1:55 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch the next Route 23.
Route 23 servicing Bethlehem High School at 3:35 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will be required to catch the next Route 23.
Route 315 and 341 servicing Mount Royal and Bedford Road at 2:35 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 5.
Route 334 servicing Walter Murray and Aden Bowman at 2:25 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 81.
Route 339 and 348 servicing Tommy Douglas leaving at 1:55 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 23.
Route 341 and 342 servicing Bedford Road and Mount Royal leaving Bedford Road at 2:40 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 5.
Route 342 servicing E.D. Feehan at 3:25 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 5.
Route 346 and 348 leaving Bethlehem High School at 3:35 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 23.
Route 352 servicing St. Joseph at 3:35 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 40.
Route 356 servicing Marion Graham at 2:25 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 35.
Route 507 servicing Bethlehem High School leaving at 3:55 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 23.
Regular Routes:
Route 20 South Industrial Special leaving at 5:06 p.m. will be cancelled today.
Route 22 Montgomery via Confederation leaving the Downtown Terminal at 3:29 p.m., 4:59 p.m. and 5:29 p.m. will be cancelled today.
Route 22 Montgomery leaving the Confederation Terminal at 3:29 p.m. will be cancelled today.
Route 23 Blairmore leaving Confederation Mall at 3:47 p.m., will be cancelled today.
Route 101 University Direct will be cancelled at 2:40 p.m. Passengers will be required to catch Route 50 Lakeview or Route 55 Lakeridge.
Route 102 University Direct will be cancelled at 2:35 p.m. Passengers will be required to catch Route 50 Lakeview or Route 55 Lakeridge.
Abilities Council Special #1 will be cancelled today. Passengers will have to catch Route 19 City Centre or Route 1 City Centre.
City Centre Special leaving Saskatchewan Polytechnic at 3:07 p.m. will be cancelled today. Passengers will have to catch Route 7, Route 30 or Route 35.
The following routes may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses:
Route 2 Meadowgreen between 3:44 p.m. and 5:44 p.m.
Route 4 Willowgrove Square between 2:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.
Route 5 McComack between 3:16 p.m. and 5:16 p.m.
Route 6 Market Mall between 1:32 p.m. and 5:35 p.m.
Route 45 Kenderdine between 3:37 p.m. and 5:37 p.m.
Route 55 Lakeridge between 2:35 p.m. and 5:35 p.m.
Route 82 between 3:44 p.m. and 5:44 p.m.
