Saskatchewan reports 8 new cases, 8 recoveries from COVID-19

There have been eight new cases of COVID-19 found in the province but there were also eight new recoveries reported.

The Government of Saskatchewan said there is a total of 349 (347 confirmed, two pending) reported cases of COVID-19 in the province. Fifty-seven of those cases are considered active.

Seven of the eight new cases reported are in the far north area.

Four people are currently in hospital, with two receiving inpatient care (1 in the north, one in Saskatoon) and another two under intensive care in Saskatoon.

There have now been a total of 288 recoveries.

Breaking down the total cases further, 138 are travellers, 146 are contacts or linked to mass gatherings, 34 have no known exposure and 31 are under investigation.

Thirty-seven cases in the province are health care workers but the source of the infections may not be healthcare-related.

There are 150 cases in the Saskatoon area, 73 in Regina, 65 from the north, 15 from the south and 35 from the far north.

A public health order has been signed to restrict all non-critical travel into and out of northern Saskatchewan. The province says it is continuing to increase testing and to conduct contact tracing in the La Loche area.

To date, 27,232 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province.
