Six people — including four youths — are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Regina’s sixth murder of 2020.
The Regina Police Service said Monday the victim is a 16-year-old boy.
Two 18-year-olds, Arden Paquachan and Brandon Shayden Lee Charette (also known as Hapa), were charged along with four teenaged males. Two of them are 15 years old, one is 16 and one is 17.
None of the teens can be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Paquachan was arrested Friday; Charette and the four youths were arrested Sunday.
On Thursday at about 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of an injured or sick person in a house in the 1000 block of Princess Street. Officers arrived on the scene and found a male whose death was confirmed by paramedics.
The Regina Police Service’s Forensic Identification and Major Crimes units as well as the coroner began an investigation that led to the charges.
“The identity of the deceased has been confirmed: The victim is a youth in a case where other young persons are accused. His name cannot be released by police,” said a police service media release, which added the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
All six of the accused made their first court appearances Monday.
