12:00 – Saskatchewan has a new online program which allows U of S researchers and the Ministry of Health to monitor ticks and inform the public of potential health risks. The new program, eTick, lets Saskatchewan residents take photos of a tick and upload them to an online database, where researchers will identify the tick within 24 business hours. The platform also provides an interactive map to track where ticks are found in the province. Dr. Maarten Voordouw, a faculty member at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, joins Gormley to discuss eTick and its advantages over the previous mail-in programs.
