Nearly every aspect of life and business was different this spring compared to last year and police statistics are showing a different picture of crime in Regina as well.
In the monthly crime statistics extract for April, the Regina Police Service reported a 19.6 per cent decline in total crimes against people and property.
While most assaults remained consistent with the previous year, reports of sexual assault were down from 15 in April 2019 to seven in April of this year.
Level 1 assaults were down by about 10 per cent and cases of robbery dropped from 30 in April last year to 10 in the same month this year.
Cases of arson appear to be on the rise in 2020 but other charges of mischief and willful damage have dropped by 27 per cent year over year.
There was good news on the car theft front, with total theft and attempted theft of motor vehicles down by 40 per cent this year compared to last year.
On the traffic side, impaired driving and speeding tickets were down 17 per cent and total traffic tickets dropped by 43 per cent.
