Two new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan; active cases at 19

Saskatchewan reported two new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

The cases — one in the Saskatoon region and one in the far north — increase the province’s total to date to 656.

There weren’t any recoveries reported, leaving that number so far at 624. There have been 13 deaths associated with the virus in the province to date.

There are 19 active cases — seven in the far north, six in the Saskatoon area, four in the Regina region, one in the north and one in the south. There aren’t any active cases in the central region.

One person is in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Of the total number of cases, 394 are community contacts, 145 are travellers, 78 don’t have any known exposures, and 39 are being investigated by local public health officials.

The total comprises 261 cases in the far north, 174 from the Saskatoon area, 112 in the north, 80 from the Regina area, 17 from the south and 12 in the central region.

There have been 232 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 199 between the ages of 40 and 59, 109 in the 60-to-79 age range, 98 among people aged 19 or under, and 18 in the 80-and-over range.

To date, 51 health-care workers have contracted the disease.

There were 282 tests done Monday, the lowest-such number since 268 tests were performed on May 26. The province’s total so far is 52,511.
