Two men who previously were charged with first-degree murder now are accused of threatening witnesses in the case.
In a media release Wednesday, the Regina Police Service said Timothy Mitchell Louison and Nayo Pisim Fox — both of whom are in custody at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre — “were allegedly disguising their use of the phone systems at the Centre to avoid detection while threatening and intimidating witnesses for an upcoming criminal trial.”
Police say the calls were made between December and April.
Louison, 30, and Fox, 27, initially were arrested Dec. 13 and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Thurston Mintuck in December of 2017.
Police said Wednesday that Louison and Fox were under court-ordered conditions prohibiting them from contacting witnesses. Police contend the two men made the phone calls to threaten witnesses and their families in order to manipulate the witnesses’ testimony in court.
After an investigation, Louison and Fox were arrested Thursday and charged with intimidation of a justice participant.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Regina Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit.
