Kids and adults alike can look forward to launching from a giant blob on the water for the second year at Regina Beach.
Sask Aquatic Adventures, an inflatable waterpark on the water, will reopen to the public Saturday and will host its grand opening for the summer on Sunday, June 21.
Owner and operator Stephanie Baer said the waterpark’s staff have been hard at work setting up the many inflatable parts of the waterpark on the water this week.
“We’ve had lots of passersby today seeing inflatable structures set up on the beach before we get them in the water and lots of wowed faces out there,” Baer said.
The Regina Beach water playground first opened at Regina Beach last summer.
“It’s fairly new to Sask. still because last year was our first year and people are still finding out about us so we still have lots of faces that come down and don’t know we exist,” Baer said.
Baer said the park is designed for both kids and adults ages five and up.
“It has slides, it has swings, it has a blob where you fly in the air, it has leap pads that you try and run across,” Baer explained. “It’s basically a big playground on the water.”
Visitors to the waterpark this summer might see longer lines due to a reduced capacity allowed on the inflatable structures. Baer said this is to accommodate social distancing and recommends visitors to the park save time in line by filling out the park’s waiver ahead of their arrival.
Kids under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult on the water-based playground and lifejackets are provided for everyone who attends the park.
Baer’s favourite part of the summer is finally seeing warm weather come again to Saskatchewan.
“The weather, the sun, and being able to get out on a lake … getting to enjoy the summer because it’s so short-lived in Saskatchewan.”
Warmer temperatures expected for the weekend have Baer hopeful for a successful reopening.
“It feels like summer has arrived officially,” she said. “It feels great to see people out on the beaches again.”
