A 31-year-old Regina man is facing drug possession and impaired driving charges after the vehicle he was driving flipped after a two-vehicle crash Saturday night.
The Regina Police Service said Monday that officers were called at about 11 p.m., to the Ring Road on-ramp at Winnipeg Street for the report of an accident.
Investigators determined a vehicle that had been southbound on Winnipeg Street tried to turn east before it was safe to do so and came into collision with a northbound vehicle. The vehicle that was turning flipped onto its roof.
The five occupants of the northbound vehicle — three of whom were children — weren’t injured. The man driving the overturned vehicle also wasn’t injured, but his female passenger was taken to hospital with injuries that were believed to be minor.
Police say the driver of the overturned vehicle appeared to be intoxicated and subsequently was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be cocaine. He was arrested and charged with possession of a scheduled substance, driving while impaired causing bodily harm and exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol within two hours of driving.
He’s to make his first court appearance on June 30.
