The Western Development Museum has decided to keep its locations closed for now.
The Government of Saskatchewan revealed Phase 4.2 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan is to begin Monday, which included museums being allowed to reopen. They were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WDM CEO Joan Kanigan said in a media release the museum’s locations in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, North Battleford and Yorkton will remain closed until they can meet public health guidelines.
“The safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff is our primary concern. As difficult as this is, the WDM must remain closed until we are confident that all the requirements outlined in the Libraries, Museums, Art Galleries Guidelines (of the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan) along with all other applicable provincial regulations are being met to the highest standard,” Kanigan said.
More details on the WDM’s plans to reopen its locations will appear on its website when they become available.
