The provincial government has announced a company that makes personal protective equipment (PPE) will be setting up shop in Saskatoon.
In a release, the province says Canadian company Benchmark PPE will open a manufacturing facility in the city to make surgical/procedure masks.
“This new investment in Saskatchewan means new manufacturing jobs right here at home,” Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison said in the release. “This facility will help protect workers throughout our economy, and protect citizens as we continue to reopen Saskatchewan.”
The release said that as businesses resume their operations with the province reopening in many areas, workers may be required to use PPE in order to protect themselves and their clients and customers to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Saskatchewan is a great place to invest and do business, so we are thrilled to be here opening up our new facility,” said Olga Bugrova, Benchmark PPE’s director of operations and co-owner.
Benchmark PPE is currently recruiting about 30 new employees to help produce up to five million masks per month.
