A drive-in concert by country singer Justin LaBrash drew a crowd to the Town ‘n’ Country Mall parking lot in Moose Jaw on Friday night.
The show went ahead despite rainfall, which fell on the LaBrash’s stage, made up of a tarp covering a wooden frame.
“Risking getting water bombs dropped on us from the roof, it was fun, it was an added tension on stage,” LaBrash said, shrugging off the wet conditions.
“It was a little slippery but I grew up playing hockey so it works.”
LaBrash, who hails from Lumsden, is in the middle of a province-wide tour, playing in front of people sitting in their vehicles, as pandemic restrictions preclude a conventional performance.
Friday’s show was a benefit concert for Joe’s Place Youth Centre. Each show on the tour will feature a charity partner, as many have had to cancel fundraising campaigns during the pandemic.
LaBrash was pleased by the crowd.
“They came out and there was just a wonderful energy in the city and from the crowd so I couldn’t be happier with it.”
Next up for the singer, a show on July 17 in Kindersley and then July 18 in Bethune.
