Sask. announces five new COVID-19 cases, 19 more recoveries

Saskatchewan has reported five new cases of COVID-19 as well as 19 more recoveries.

The new cases reported Tuesday — three in the central region, one in the Saskatoon area and one in the Regina area — increase the total number of cases in the province to date to 876.

So far, 785 people are said to have recovered from the virus. There have been 15 deaths reported in Saskatchewan to date.

The number of active cases is now 76, with 35 in the central area, 18 in the south, nine in Saskatoon, six in the far north, five in Regina and three in the north.

Six people were said to be in hospital Tuesday — double the number that were announced Monday.

Four people are receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon. There are two people — one in Saskatoon and one in the south — in intensive care.

Of the total number of cases, 493 are community contacts, 176 are travellers, 132 don’t have any known exposures, and 75 remain under investigation by local public health officials.

To date, 58 health-care workers in Saskatchewan have contracted the disease.

There have been 339 cases in the far north, 199 from the Saskatoon area, 120 in the north, 85 from the Regina area, 83 in the south and 50 in the central region.

So far, there have been 310 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 270 between the ages of 40 and 59, 151 from 60 to 79 years of age, 121 involving people 19 and under, and 24 in the 80-and-over range.

There were 613 tests reported Tuesday — the first day that everyone in the province could get a test whether they have symptoms or not. A referral from HealthLine is all that’s required.

To date, 75,774 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan.
