Two Regina women have been charged in connection with what police are calling “a protracted, violent incident” that occurred July 6.
According to the Regina Police Service, the women — aged 32 and 36 — know the victim, a 22-year-old woman.
In a media release Thursday, police said the victim and an acquaintance went to the house of another person in the 1200 block of Elphinstone Street around 9 p.m., on July 6.
“Once there, the victim was allegedly attacked and tied up, and assaulted several times throughout the night,” the police release said. “It’s also alleged the assailants told the victim they would take her child as an attempt to manipulate her.”
At some point the next day when the 22-year-old was left alone in the basement, she got out of the house and contacted police.
The suspects were arrested Tuesday and charged with forcible confinement, robbery with violence, and extortion. They made their first court appearances Thursday.
