A 15-year-old boy is dead after a van with four teenagers lost control on a gravel road and rolled over Monday afternoon on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
Loon Lake RCMP said in a release the rollover happened around 5 p.m. on Treatment Centre Road, when reports came in about the van travelling at high speeds before losing control and rolling several times.
The 15-year-old boy driving the vehicle and a 15-year-old girl in the front passenger seat were both thrown from the van. Officers attempted life-saving measures on the boy but he died at the scene.
The 15-year-old girl was airlifted to Saskatoon with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 14-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl in the rear passenger seats were taken by ground ambulance to Meadow Lake for treatment of minor injuries.
RCMP are still investigating what led to the crash, but alcohol wasn’t believed to be a factor.
