Saskatchewan reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with seven more recoveries.
The new cases — two each in the northwest and southwest zones — increased the total in the province to date to 1,586.
It’s the third straight day the province has announced a single-digit case total, following reports of one new case on each of Monday and Tuesday.
It’s the first time since July 9-11 that the new case numbers were five or under for three straight days.
The seven recoveries reported Wednesday raised that total so far in Saskatchewan to 1,410. To date, 22 residents of the province have died due to complications from COVID-19.
There are 154 active cases, 104 of which are from communal living settings.
Seven people are in hospital, with three — two in the southwest and one in Saskatoon — receiving inpatient care. There are four people in intensive care in Saskatoon.
Of the total number of cases in the province to date, 813 are community contacts, 473 don’t have any known exposures, 226 are travellers and 74 are being investigated by local public health officials.
The province’s total includes 64 health-care workers.
There have been 407 cases in the south area (209 southwest, 187 south-central, 11 southeast), 352 in the far north region (346 far northwest, six far northeast), 254 in the north zone (121 northwest, 68 north-central, 65 northeast), 248 from the Saskatoon area, 194 in the central region (161 central-west, 33 central-east), and 131 in the Regina area.
The Regina area hasn’t reported a new case in seven days. The far north region hasn’t had a new case recorded since Aug. 4.
The province’s total comprises 506 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 492 between the ages of 40 and 59, 274 from age 60 to 79, 259 involving people 19 and under, and 55 in the 80-and-over range.
The 962 tests done in Saskatchewan on Tuesday increased the total so far to 125,181.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan as of Tuesday had a per-capita rate of 90,515 people tested per million population. The national rate was 129,829 people tested per million residents.
