Hop aboard Regina’s Jingle Bus: rides free this weekend with cash donation

Break open the piggy bank – the annual Jingle Bus campaign is back this weekend.

From Friday, Dec. 16, until Sunday, Dec. 18, rides on Regina’s transit and paratransit buses are free with a cash donation.

The money goes to the Salvation Army and Regina and District Food Bank.

“We had planned for 2,000 hampers this year, but now we need about 2,100 so the funds from this will help that gap,” Regina Food Bank CEO Steve Compton explained.

“It is just a great reminder that while you are travelling around the city you can get a ride and help someone in your community at the same time.”

With an expansion and new routes this year, Mayor Michael Fougere is encouraging people to hop aboard the Jingle Bus.

“We always want to encourage transit use all the time, you can go downtown, you don’t have to worry about parking, you can do your shopping and it will be much more convenient for you,” he said.

The bus only accepts coins.

All donations from the Jingle Bus campaign will be matched by Rawlco Radio, which owns 980 CJME.
