With Christmas Day less than a week away, Canada Post is dealing with an influx of mail.
From regular Christmas cards to large parcels, millions of pieces of mail are being shipped out to their final destination.
Canada Post said there is an increase in parcel deliveries this year.
“I remember we were thrilled when we had two days where we were delivering more than one million parcels,” explained Phil Legault with Canada Post, talking about when he first started with the company in 2013.
“This year we’re going to have 26 of them, 16 days in a row actually.”
According to Legault, approximately 230,000 parcels are expected to be delivered in Saskatchewan in December, which is an increase of 12 to 15 per cent from 2015.
The deadline to send out a parcel and have it arrive on time for Christmas is Thursday, Dec. 22.
When it comes to cards, Canada Post is not dealing with the volume it was over a decade ago, but Legault confirmed “there’s still a good number of Christmas cards out there.”
The deadline to send a card within Saskatchewan and have it arrive on time is Tuesday, Dec. 20. If someone is sending it within Regina or Saskatoon, they have until Wednesday, Dec. 21.
