Sask. reports eight new COVID-19 cases, no new recoveries

The Saskatchewan government reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

The new cases reported — three in the Saskatoon area, two in the central-east zone, and one in the north-west, Regina and south-east zones — increased the provincial total to 1,651 cases.

The province now has 48 active cases.

There were no new recoveries reported on Sunday.

One person is in hospital, they are in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Yesterday, 2,081 COVID-19 tests were performed throughout the province.

Drive-through testing sites that do not require a referral will open Tuesday in Regina and Thursday in Saskatoon.

Regina’s drive-through testing will happen at Hall C of the International Trade Centre at Evraz Place. Testing will take place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Saskatoon’s drive-through is located at 3630 Thatcher Avenue. Testing will take place between noon and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“The drive-through sites will be first come, first served so there may be some wait times,” The Saskatchewan Health Authority said in a release on Sunday. “You must wait in your vehicle. There are no public washrooms available at these sites and you will be required to wear a mask during the registration process.”
