Billets were found for all Red Wings players in just four hours.
Souls Harbour Rescue Mission gave some Christmas cheer to those who might not otherwise receive it.
It was the annual Souls Harbour Christmas meal and they were expecting to serve 600 guests Friday.
The meal came with all the fixings, with 40 turkeys and hams and nearly 200 pounds of potatoes being used to make the meal.
Patty Evans has been volunteering for the meal for around 11 years.
“It makes me feel good to be able to help somebody and to have other people make sure they have a good Christmas too,” Evans said.
Patty Humphreys is with Souls Harbour said the meals have been going on for about 12 years and have continued to grow.
“I like to think of the community meals as being in your own home, only multiply it by 10,” Humphreys said. “Instead of having maybe 20 people in your home, now you’ve got 600.”
The meal also came with a wide variety of desserts, which appealed to the sweet-tooth of Susan Tamlin.
“I’m looking at this big table full of desserts and the cupcakes look really, really good.”
Tamlin was glad to be able to share the meal with her family.
“Christmas is about family so it’s really nice that we can do this together.”
An event like this takes a lot of volunteers and nearly 100 were on hand to help hand out plates of food.
