Sask. reports six new COVID cases, 19 more recoveries

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan dropped by 13 on Wednesday.

The provincial government reported six new cases and 19 recoveries, lowering the active caseload to 133.

The new cases — three in the Regina area, two in the Saskatoon region and one in the central-west zone — raised the provincial total to date to 1,830.

There have been 1,673 recoveries so far. To date, 24 Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The 133 active cases include 78 in the Saskatoon area and 26 in the Regina region.

Eight people — seven in Saskatoon and one in the south-central area — are receiving inpatient care in hospital. One individual is in intensive care in Saskatoon.

To date, there have been 439 cases in the south area (222 southwest, 199 south-central, 18 southeast), 361 in the Saskatoon area, 358 from the far north (349 far northwest, nine far northeast), 271 in the north zone (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 67 northeast), 236 from the central area (174 central-west, 62 central-east) and 165 in the Regina region.

The total comprises 901 community contacts, 532 cases without any known exposures, 276 travellers, and 121 cases that remain under investigation.

There have been 596 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 566 between the ages of 40 and 59, 306 involving people 19 and under, 301 in the 60-to-79 age classification, and 61 aged 80 and over.

There were 1,507 tests done in Saskatchewan on Tuesday, lifting the provincial total to 176,912.

Regina flight added to COVID list

The provincial government has added a flight into Regina to its list of those that carried someone who later tested positive for COVID-19.

The flight in question is Flair Airlines 8156 from Vancouver to Regina on Sept. 14.

People who were in rows 6 through 12 may have been exposed and are advised to self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days after arrival.
