You adore your team, of course, but you need a bad guy. You need the villain.
The Houston Astros are the villains in the Major League Baseball playoffs.
The team, the cheaters, the scandal, the theft of a World Series championship still burns fans who loved the story of how the Astros were able to build a champion from within and not buy a title like other villainous teams in Boston and New York.
So when the Astros swept the Minnesota Twins to advance to the American League Divisional Series, I won’t apologize for a few choice words I had for them.
In this year’s MLB playoffs, we have the ABC’s of who to cheer for.
Anybody But Cheaters.
Go Tampa, or Cleveland, or Oakland, Chicago — heck, even the Yankees.
The last thing I want to see is a group of players who deserved to be suspended for the season, if not be given the Pete Rose treatment, win another championship.
