The National Lacrosse League has handed down suspensions stemming from the Christmas Showdown brawl between the Saskatchewan Rush and Calgary Roughnecks.
Rush goaltender Aaron Bold and forward Ben McIntosh will both miss Saskatchewan’s season opener on Jan. 7 in Georgia when they face the Swarm.
Roughnecks goalie Frank Scigliano and forwards Greg Harnett and Garett McIntosh were also slapped with one game bans.
The melee started after Scigliano delivered a two-handed slash to the Rush’s Robert Church late in the preseason match at SaskTel Centre.
Skirmishs broke out across the field, with Bold and Scigliano eventually facing off mid-turf.
