Saskatchewan adds 13 new COVID-19 cases, 10 recoveries

There are 13 new cases of COVID-19 in the province.

In the province’s daily update Friday, it announced there were new cases in Saskatoon (6), north-central (1), northeast (1), central-east (4) and south-central (1).

The 13 new cases come after back-to-back days when the number of active cases increased by 14, meaning there are 41 new cases over the past three days.

The province now considers 147 cases active. Saskatoon now has 62 active cases, Regina has 30 and the central-east region has 31.

There were 10 more recoveries reported on Friday, bringing the total to 1,769. There are six people in hospital due to COVID-19 – three in Saskatoon, one in Regina and two in the southwest. No one is in intensive care.

A look at the numbers

There have been 445 cases from the south area (224 southwest, 202 south-central, 19 southeast), 399 in the Saskatoon area, 359 in the far north (350 far northwest, nine far northeast), 281 from the north (132 northwest, 80 north-central, 69 northeast), 268 in the central area (176 central-west, 92 central-east), and 188 in the Regina region.

The province’s total comprises 954 community contacts, 565 cases without a known exposure, 293 travellers, and 128 cases that are still being investigated

To date, 73 health-care workers have contracted the virus.

There have been 640 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 594 between the ages of 40 and 59, 333 involving people 19 and under, 309 in the 60-to-79 age range, and 64 among those 80 and over.

There were 2,280 COVID-19 tests done in Saskatchewan on Thursday. The province’s total to date is 195,286.
