An 18-year-old Regina man is facing charges after bear spray was discharged in the Cornwall Centre on Tuesday.
At around 12:20 p.m., officers responded to the mall for a report of a bear spray attack.
Police were given a description of the suspect and were told he had exited through the north doors of the mall before heading west on Saskatchewan Drive.
Officers conducted a check of the area and found the man walking in the 1900 block of Halifax Street, where he was arrested without incident.
A number of people in the mall were affected by the bear spray, but none required medical attention.
Further investigation determined the bear spray was aimed at another man. The intended target left the mall before police could arrive, so police don’t know his identity.
The 18-year-old who was charged is facing one count each of assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. He’s to appear in court Nov. 25.
