Saskatonians are facing several fee hikes in the new year that will make life in the Bridge City a little more expensive.
The biggest hit to the pocket book comes from rising electricity and water rates.
Saskatoon Light and Power is set to match Sask. Power’s 3.5 per cent rate hike, translating to an extra $4 a month for the average home.
Meanwhile water and wastewater rates are scheduled to jump 9.5 per cent.
Homeowners are also expected to see a $66.18 increase to their property taxes, a 3.85 per cent rise, due to the 2017 municipal budget.
Residents with pets will also have to spend a few extra dollars. Licensing fees are edging up anywhere from 50 cents for spayed, neutered or juvenile cats to two dollars for non-spayed or neutered dogs.
If you rent out a bedroom but haven’t registered legally, that fee is also jumping up as of March to $1,750. The current rate is $1,500.
Children who golf at Holiday Park will catch a break though, as junior season passes and daily fees are going down. The new season pass will cost $85 less than before at $520, while an 18-hole course will cost $26.00 down from $30.25 for anyone under 18.
Most other golf fees are rising slightly.
Landfill trips will also cost $3 more, while recycling fees are increasing by 15 to 20 cents.
