It’s almost time to say goodbye to a year of many ups and downs.
2016 is nearly finished and it was a year that saw a historic election, a battle over a carbon tax and the deaths of many pop culture icons.
Some on social media have been calling it the “worst year ever”, but 980 CJME went out and asked people if they felt the same way about the year that was.
“Pretty great year,” Sean Myers said. “Nothing to complain about really.”
Others thought it was just like any other.
“I think it was an average year with some negative moments and some positive moments, it’s what you take from it,” Jodi Nicholson-Hachey said.
For Chloe Potovszky, she said the year did have some memorable events.
“For the whole icons passing away, that’s pretty much what 2016 is and then Brexit and the whole trump situation so international relations are kind of going off the hook but other than that, people kind of have to look inward and see how the year actually really went.”
But Eric Stephenson believe the year was only as good as people wanted it to be.
“No, it’s definitely not the worst year because that’s clearly personal perception, so if you made it a bad year, it’s a bad year on you.”
No matter what people’s thought on the year was, it’s almost time to look forward as the world gets ready to move into 2017.
