8:30 – Ottawa is moving to ban single-use plastic items like straws and grocery bags by 2021, in a part of a broader move to classify plastic as a toxic substance and divert it away from Canada’s landfills. While the move is winning praise from some environmental groups, industry groups aren’t so positive. Masterson says plastics manufacturing adds $28B annually to our economy, and he joins Gormley to discuss the bans.
