With the days until the Saskatchewan election ticking down, Ryan Meili and the NDP spoke out against the Saskatchewan Party on Friday, taking jabs at its cuts.
Meili was joined at the Regina event by Coronation Park candidate Noor Burki.
“As soon as they were re-elected, out came the knives,” Meili said of the Sask. Party government. “Millions of dollars (were) cut from schools, health care, universities, and community-based organizations. We have seen this movie before.
“Scott Moe simply can’t be trusted.”
Meili went on to say that if the Sask. Party is re-elected, cuts to different services will be worse than in past years.
“Mark my words, if the Sask. Party is re-elected, the cuts and privatization this time around will make 2017 look like a walk in the park,” Meili said. “The cuts they will make to health and education are a bad idea any time, but right now, it’s downright dangerous.
“Cuts versus investment, that’s the choice.”
Meili has previously warned about possible cuts made by the Sask. Party, saying Moe would follow the lead of Premier Jason Kenney in Alberta.
Moe was in Saskatoon on Friday in Saskatoon after holding a drive-in rally in Regina on Thursday.
Moe held the second “Big Honkin’ Rally for a Strong Saskatchewan,” this time in the Bridge City.
“The Saskatchewan Party built 57 new schools, the NDP closed 176 schools. The Saskatchewan Party built 15 new seniors care homes, the NDP shut down 1,200 long-term care beds for seniors,” Moe said in a release. “We are building new hospitals, including the new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon. The NDP closed 52 hospitals.
“The Saskatchewan Party has a record of growth. The NDP has a record of decline. That’s why Ryan Meili doesn’t want to talk about the NDP record.”
