For the first time since Oct.11, two more Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, bringing the provincial total to 27 deaths.
One person was in their 60’s and was from the far northwest region while another was in their 50’s and was from the northeast region of the province.
The second highest case-load to date was announced on Saturday, as the province reported 116 new cases. There are now 985 active cases throughout the province.
The new cases are located in the far northwest (4), far north-central (1), far northeast (2), northwest (9), north-central (10), northeast (5), Saskatoon (38), central-east (2), Regina (39), southwest (1), south-central (3) and southeast (1) zones. One new case has pending residence information.
Thirty-four people are in hospital. Twenty-six people are receiving inpatient care including one in the far north-west, two in the north-west, eight in the north-central, nine in the Saskatoon region, and six in the Regina zones.
Eight people are in intensive care; one in the north-central region, five in Saskatoon and two in Regina.
There were 39 new recoveries announced on Sunday, bringing that total to 2,726 since the pandemic hit.
Changes to public health orders
The ministry has reminded residents that changes to provincial public health orders took effect on Friday.
For the next 27 days, everyone must wear non-medical masks in indoor public places in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
The government says posters are available to help businesses and organizations inform their customers about mask use. As well, businesses were urged to check the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan for updated guidelines.
Also Friday, the maximum number of people who can attend indoor private gatherings dropped from 15 to 10.
