Mild weather on the way to Saskatchewan

Temperatures have been frigid in the province, but milder temperatures are on the way.

Environment Canada’s David Phillips said temperatures will begin to increase and we’ll be able to see the daily highs around the freezing mark starting next week.

“It’s not going to be a one day kind of wonder,” Phillips told the CJME Morning Show. “Next week is going to be very much like that with some sunshine.”

Phillips said it’s too early to say winter is over but it’s almost at the halfway point of the season.

He added the mild temperatures might be sticking around for a while.

“When we were looking at the pattern earlier this month, and the beginning of winter, it was showing colder than normal with northerly flow,” Phillips said. “The pattern has now changed, we look at the next month, we even looked into February and March, and it’s showing milder than normal temps.”

Phillips did say it might be a bit too early to put away the warm winter clothing, warning that winter in the province isn’t really over until around May.
