Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio deserves some credit for the way he has handled not having a quarterback for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Instead of blaming the NFL for being hypocrites for forcing the Broncos to play while the Baltimore Ravens get their game pushed back nearly a week, Fangio blamed the people truly responsible: His quarterbacks.
Imagine that: Blaming the people who didn’t follow the protocols rather than blame the people at the top who set the rules.
There are those in Saskatchewan who could follow Vic Fangio’s example.
Fangio is debating if there are further penalties that should come to his quarterbacks who hung out without masks and without social distancing, with one of them testing positive a day later.
While emergency replacement Kendall Hinton’s effort was commendable, the leaders of the team are supposed to be the quarterbacks and they put their team in an impossible spot to succeed.
And it’ll be interesting as the season nears an end, how many players on other teams with no shot at making the playoffs start letting their guard down. This week’s drama could only be the beginning of the NFL stumbling to the finish line.
