A 43-year-old Regina man is facing charges that include impaired driving and fleeing from police after he allegedly ran nine red lights and six stop signs in the city’s west end Wednesday night.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers responded at about 10:30 p.m., to the area of McCarthy Boulevard and Dewdney Avenue for a call of a dangerous driving incident.
Police say the caller had seen a car weaving between lanes and running two red lights.
Officers found the car and pulled it over, but after stopping initially, the driver sped off. Another attempt to pull over the car also failed.
After allegedly disobeying more red lights and stop signs, the driver eventually got stuck. At that point, he was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol or drug, failing or refusing to comply with a breath demand, flight from a peace officer, and obstructing a peace officer.
The man was released from custody and is to appear in Regina Provincial Court on April 12.
