John Strang will stand trial for the first-degree murder of Saskatchewan Party staffer Lisa Strang.
The 48-year-old accused was due to begin his preliminary inquiry Monday morning.
Instead, lawyers confirmed he would waive his right to the preliminary inquiry and go straight to a judge and jury trial at Court of Queen’s Bench.
Lisa, 47, worked for the Sask. Party for 11 years and was one of their longest serving employees.
She was found dead in her McLean home, east of Regina, on Aug. 1, 2015.
Authorities haven’t confirmed or clarified her relationship with John. RCMP also haven’t said how the woman died.
John was arrested two days after Lisa’s death.
No date has been set for the trial.
