Police have formally laid a series of criminal charges against two men allegedly caught in a stolen car Wednesday, including a murder suspect who had been wanted for over a week.
Officers alleged that a shotgun was pointed at them during a chase in the city’s northwest that saw them arrest Curtis Morin, 25, and two others.
Morin was already wanted on a Canada-wide warrant identifying him as a suspect in the Jan. 17 death of 29-year-old Bailey Lonechild.
On Thursday, police issued updates formally charging Morin with 2nd-degree murder in Lonechild’s death, and listing an additional 14 counts stemming from the car chase. Those charges included various weapons offences and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
A 30-year-old man arrested alongside Morin was charged with possession of stolen property, evading police and dangerous driving.
A third person arrested following the chase was released without charges.
