I’ll be the first one to point out that some of the loudest media types from the centre of the universe – Toronto – know the least about the Argos or, for that matter, the Canadian Football League.
That doesn’t stop a percentage of them from continually pointing out flaws for both the team and the league. Sadly, those CFL haters currently have a case against the Toronto franchise.
On Friday, coach Scott Milanovich bolted for the NFL after GM Jim Barker was fired earlier in the week.
Teams fire GM’s and coaches all the time, so I don’t have a problem with a personnel change. I have a problem with the timing of the change.
CFL free agency is in three weeks and this team has neither a general manager or a head coach.
Last week, TSN’s Dave Naylor correctly pointed out the window closes on hiring potential candidates from other teams on Jan. 31.
It looks as if the Argos are already playing catch up for 2017. Criticism may be justified.
