Police say a 22-year-old man was stabbed as a pair of suspects tried to steal his truck.
Officers and paramedics were called to a home on the 700 block of Weldon Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, where they found the wounded man.
He was taken to hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
In a media release, police said the man picked up the two suspects somewhere in the Confederation Park area and took them to a location near Leif Erickson Park, in the Westmount neighbourhood.
At that point, police said a fight broke out when the two suspects tried to steal the man’s truck. The pair allegedly ran off on foot, and the man was able to drive himself home and call police.
The first suspect is described as an indigenous man, about 19 or 20 years old with short dark hair. He was reportedly about six feet tall, weighing around 160 pounds and .wearing a black jacket with red stripes. Police reported he was armed with a large hunting knife.
The second suspect is described as an indigenous man in his late 20’s, about five feet, ten inches tall with a slim build. He was reportedly wearing all black, with a black toque with green stripes. He was reportedly carrying what looked like a handgun.
