The internet can be a wonderful place for sharing information and learning, but the negativity we constantly see can be hard to deal with.
Sharing positivity is more important than ever these days and it starts with us. SaskTel has started a new initiative: It’s recruiting Be Kind Online ambassadors.
Erin Berger is a Saskatoon woman who recently became an ambassador.
“It’s about ending bullying and cyberbullying, but also empowering people to change their online behaviour and to know that they have that power to do positive changes on their own page,” she said. “I’m always telling everyone else, ‘Give it a try and believe in yourself.’ I thought, ‘Why not do it? Apply,’ and they accepted me. And it has been an amazing process – it has been so much fun.”
SaskTel has a couple more spots open for people who would like to be online ambassadors.
“To talk about what positivity is online, how can we help people express themselves and have more fun online and be less negative and end the bullying?”
“Wear your favourite suspenders! Pose for photos! Refrain from comparing & instead celebrate our differences. Just like the photos show, we’re always changing. We all have so many sides. The fancy side, the silly side, even the sad and mad sides. Share it all,” Berger says in her online ambassador post.
Those interested in becoming an ambassador can apply online by the end of the day Jan. 31.
