On Monday, the league announced CFL week will be held in Regina next month.
There will be a buzz as the league’s top 50 players, Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductees and top prospects gather to celebrate a league that is uniquely Canadian.
It’s ironic an offseason event will create more buzz in Regina than the Grey Cup did at BMO Field three months ago. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will benefit from this positive off-season event. Fans will be all-in.
The vibe is much different in Toronto. The CFL free agency period begins Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.. The Toronto Argonauts go in with no General Manager and no head coach in place. Assistant General Manager Spencer Zimmerman is the man in charge as free agency gets underway.
Zimmerman’s boss, a yet to be determined General Manager, will inherit Zimmerman’s moves for the 2017 season. This gives sports fans in Toronto a chance to again disengage from the team and the league.
