Rider fans should be very happy with the first two names signed by the team on Day 1 of CFL Free Agency.
Derek Dennis comes to Saskatchewan with the most outstanding offensive lineman trophy from 2016.
O-line was a big position of need for the Riders and they went out and got the best.
Dennis alone can make a good line great, after pitching a shutout in terms of sacks given up in 2016. He was utterly dominant and makes, whoever the QB is, life that much easier.
Then the team spent money to bring running back Kienan LaFrance to Saskatchewan. LaFrance starred for the Redblacks in the playoffs, with his epic East Final performance in the snow against Edmonton.
The Canadian running back also could help the team with the complicated dynamic of the Canadian-non-Canadian roster ratio.
The big bonus for the Riders – they didn’t have much to lose in free agency, only things to gain. And gain they did.
