Another Saskatchewan town has a chance to be named Kraft Hockeyville.
Lumsden has been named one of the four finalists in the annual contest.
If the town northwest of Regina wins, it will get the right to host an NHL game and $250,000 to renovate its rink.
Jamie Lees is leading the charge for Lumsden. In the town’s pitch video, she expressed just how important hockey is to the community.
“Right here is the centre of our whole community. It’s the heart of our town and I can’t say there would be a single person in this community who hasn’t walked through those doors before,” she said.
If Lumsden wins, the money would go towards building new dressing rooms and kickstarting the girls’ hockey program.
Voting for the winner begins April 9.
In the 15 years that Kraft Hockeyville has been around, no community from Saskatchewan has taken home the grand prize.
Pense was a finalist in 2020, but came up short in the end.
