While all schools in Regina’s two largest divisions are to transition to remote learning in the coming days, Marion McVeety School is getting a headstart.
Regina Public Schools announced Monday the Hillsdale-area school will close Tuesday.
“Multiple cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in individuals that attend Marion McVeety School and that are transported by school bus,” the division said in a release. “All close contacts have been notified …
“For safety reasons, the school will close as of Tuesday, March 23. All students will begin remote learning on Wednesday, March 24 and you will be contacted regarding details. Students will return to school on Monday, April 12, 2021.”

Regina schools have been hit hard by COVID in recent days. On Saturday, five schools announced new cases and, on Sunday, 16 schools reported 19 cases.
McVeety has had four cases since March 13. St. Theresa School has reported five cases in that same time frame.
Luther College High School previously moved to remote learning after two students tested positive.
Prairie Valley School Division changes
The Prairie Valley School Division announced Monday it had closed two schools due to COVID cases.
Two people associated with Indian Head Elementary School tested positive — the second and third cases in the past week. As a result, the school is shifting to online learning until after the Easter break.
A positive case at Wolseley High School also resulted in students moving to remote learning until April 12.
As well, the division said a classroom at Vibank Regional School had been closed due to a positive case. Students are to learn online until returning to the school March 31.
