An inmate who was mistakenly released from custody March 9 has turned himself in.
Codie Tobie Cardinal, 49, was released from the Regina Correctional Centre (RCC) following a video court appearance. He turned himself in to Regina police on Thursday.
Cardinal’s release was blamed on an “administrative error in communicating information” from the Court of Queen’s Bench Office in Estevan to the RCC, according to a provincial news release.
Cardinal was to remain in remand and appear in Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina on additional charges for conspiracy to commit a crime.
On Tuesday, police in Prince Albert announced they were searching for Blair Cody McKenzie, who was also prematurely released before the end of his court-ordered sentence.
The reason for McKenzie’s release was also due to an administrative error.
