The Saskatchewan Health Authority is limiting visitation at the Whitewood Community Health Centre after an increase of COVID-19 cases in the area.
On Monday, the SHA said it was moving to “family presence Level 3” at the health centre.
“Level 3 family presence restrictions are for end-of-life with the provision that care teams can support one essential family/support person to safely assist with care if needed (i.e. for self-care, mobility, nutrition and behavioural needs),” the SHA said in a release. “This must be approved by the care team and includes outbreak situations.
“No other visitors are allowed into the specified facility at this time and these limitations will remain in place until it is safe to return to the previous level of family presence.”
Family members and support people must undergo health screening — including a temperature check and a questionnaire — before they enter the building.
They’ll also have to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving a patient’s room and when entering and leaving the facility, and must wear a mask at all times.
There are 146 active COVID cases in the southeast region which contains Whitewood.
The number of cases of variants of concern has been increasing in the southeast area of the province in recent days, having risen from 43 last Tuesday to 98 on Monday.
