A domestic dispute has resulted in several charges against a 29-year-old Regina man, including forcible confinement and assault with a weapon.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers were called Tuesday just after 1:30 a.m., to a domestic-related weapons offence near Martin Collegiate.
A woman said her ex-boyfriend had forced his way into her apartment and held her at knifepoint. She told police the man hit her up to 30 times over a span of about three hours before she was able to get away and run to a neighbour’s place to call police.
Officers searched the victim’s apartment, but the man was gone. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Just before 6 a.m., officers found the suspect at a home in the 900 block of Retallack Street. He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, assault by choking, uttering threats, theft under $5,000 and breach of an undertaking.
To protect the identity of the victim, the Regina Police Service did not release the man’s name.
