Some Regina drivers can keep that loose change in their pockets for a couple more weeks.
The City of Regina announced Friday it was extending its moratorium on parking meter enforcement downtown until April 26. Anyone picking up food or merchandise from downtown shops and restaurants can park at a meter for free for up to two hours.
“Drivers who park at a meter for longer than two hours will be ticketed,” the city said in a release. “Should you need to stay downtown for longer than two hours, remember to move your car to another block, park at an off-street location or use public transit.”
The city announced another extension Friday — all community and recreation facilities will remain closed until April 26.
The move was made to abide by provincial public health orders put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Outdoor recreation facilities such as city-owned golf courses, tennis courts and pickleball courts are being opened, weather permitting.
