A 30-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are facing multiple charges stemming from a series of incidents that began with a report of a stolen truck on Sunday night.
Saskatoon police reported in a media release that they were called out to a home on the 200 block of Stillwater Drive around 7:00 p.m. for a report that a GMC Denali had been taken.
While en route to that call, police got another report, this time of a break-and-enter at a nearby home on the 100 block of Stillwater Drive.
The arriving officers were flagged down and told to head to Kingsmere Boulevard and Stillwater Drive. They were told the Denali’s owner, joined by family members, had found the truck and been in an altercation with the alleged thieves.
Police reported that the suspects used bear spray on the truck’s owner and another man during the confrontation.
Officers arrested both suspects at the scene, determining that the pair were behind both the call about the stolen truck and the one about the break-and-enter.
Police reported that they also found a black airsoft pistol at the scene.
Each of the two suspects was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a weapon dangerous to the public and one count each of mischief over $5000.
The pair were expected to make their first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday.
