Regina police are trying to get to the bottom of a vandalism spree.
In a news release Thursday, the Regina Police Service reported there have been 45 incidents of mischief at bus shelters throughout the city since the start of this year.
“This is wanton destruction of City property which serves an important function for Regina residents,” the police release said. “The damage to bus shelters costs everyone in terms of tax dollars and creates inconvenience and discomfort to users of the transit system.
“The sight of broken glass can also be distressing to transit clients who may interpret the damage as a signal that the area is unsafe. We all have a role in community safety, and police are encouraging anyone who sees suspicious behaviour around bus shelters to report it immediately to police.”
Officers do not know if a single person or group is responsible, but they have noticed patterns of multiple incidents on the same day in multiple neighbourhoods.
Police shared a map highlighting where the damaged shelters were found.
Officers are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
