Regina police arrested a 33-year-old man in late April after a confrontation with protesters near Victoria Park who oppose COVID-19 measures.
In an email from police Sunday, they said the man was driving eastbound on Victoria Avenue on April 24, stopping near the park.
“It’s alleged one of the passengers in his car tried to remove signs placed in the centre median by protestors. Two protestors tried to prevent the signs from being taken. It’s alleged the driver got out of his vehicle and physically struck one protestor and then a second one,” the email said.
Police said the two protesters had minor injuries.
They charged the driver with two counts of common assault. He was released at the scene on an undertaking to appear in court in August.
