Who did it better, the NHL or the NBA?
The issue is the NBA’s play-in tournament.
Both leagues brought in formats in last year’s bubble to give more teams a chance to make the playoffs after the regular season was cut short.
This time, the NHL scrapped its play-in games, going with a traditional 16-team playoff.
The NBA established a mini-tournament for seeds seven through 10. LeBron James thinks the person who came up with the idea should be fired.
Well, LeBron, you liked the idea a year ago but now that the Lakers might have to play these games, of course, you’ve changed your tune.
But aside from LeBron coming across as a whiner, I would say I’d rather just the playoffs start with 16 teams like the NHL.
The shortened season is long enough that we have a pretty clear picture of who should be in the playoffs and who should be out.
Plus, there was no reason to add extra games when these championships will be handed out in July.
